After a painter is accused of being a warlock, he is crucified in a southern hotel that supposedly guards one of the seven gateways to hell. Many years later, the hotel's current owner must deal with the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy when vicious flesh craving zombies start appearing and making their presence known.

Lucio Fulci's zombie classic is filled with surreal and haunting imagery that makes for a very scary and atmospheric thriller. Italian splatter effects pioneer Giannetto DeRossi also succeeds in producing some of the most audacious gore scenes ever captured on film.
