In 1486, Sicilian villagers drag screaming nuns into a cavern beneath their convent. They are tortured, nailed to the many crosses in the chamber, and then set aflame. Bring us to Toronto, 1990, where a seance is in progress. A young woman named Liza has a vision of crucified nuns and falls screaming to the floor. Several months later, Liza ends up in a small town in Sicily for an archaeological dig. While ther e she is drawn to the beautiful but ominous ruins of a monastery which overlooks the dig. When Liza enters the crypt of the ruined building she becomes convinced that there is another chamber hidden behind a wall. Sure enough, she discovers a cavern containing charred remains hanging crucified on wooden crosses. Little does she know th at opening up the crypt will set in motion an unstoppable series of supernatural events.
