With help form the local village resistance, the duo manage to infiltrate the chemical plant and film the evidence that proves the dumping is in fact taking place. It is not long before the alarm is raised and the cameraman is captured and brought before the evil commander while the reporter manages to escape and meets a helpful snake venom expert in the jungle. The two plan on going back to the plant for a rescue mission, but little do they know that chaos will erupt with the awakening of the Alien from the Deep which has the whole compound in disarray. This was Antonio Margheriti's last incursion to the sci-fi genre and last collaboration with long time producer Gianfranco Couyoumdjian. It really is more of a horror-action-adventure film though with an ecological message about the systematic destruction of nature which Margheriti again visited with his next film Indio. 1989

The story also involves a heroic priest of a war-torn village who stands up to the militia leader and earns the respect and help of the mercenaries. This ambitious exploitation action film was the most expensive Swiss-budgeted production up to that time and Antonio Margheriti directs with enthusiasm and style. It features giant explosions blowing up a dam, a stationary plane, and a moving train as well as a subtle score by Ennio Morricone. Widescreen and Uncut. 1985

INDIO (DVD) Margheriti, Antonio A half-breed Marine officer returns to the Amazon village of his birth to visit his dying chieftain father. Desperately trying to stop sabotage attacks from officer "Indio", the Colonel sends for a secret weapon: Sgt. Iron, Indio's old instructor and the deadliest of soldiers. In the end, Indio, the evil Colonel and Sgt. Iron square off in a take-no-prisoners fight -to-the-finish for the jungle home that must be saved. Antonio Margheriti directs this fun jungle action romp that mutates into a hybrid of First Blood and The Emerald Forest, but with as many explosions and miniature effects that the budget would allow. 1989

INDIO 2: THE REVOLT Margheriti, Antonio It has been a few years since the events of the first film and all is peaceful in the jungle until Indio is shot point blank and killed by the evil head of the construction corporation. With Indio now out of the way, the corporation can continue to build the road through the Amazon and hires a gang of mercenaries to murder, massacre and enslave any local Indians who stand in the way. When news of Indio's death reaches his of old friend Sgt. Iron (Marvelous Marvin Hagler), he heads back to the jungle seek revenge. Sgt. Iron helps unite the native tribes and teaches them guerrilla tactics for fighting and protecting their homes and families. Despite several set backs, Sgt. Iron gets a large enough number of tribesmen to band together and stand up against the evil corporation and its army of mercenaries. Antonio Margheriti pulls all the right punches at just the right moments, and creates a very enjoyable viewing experience for one of his last films. The explosions, gunfire, and fist fights come in fast and furious, with gore included, all culminating into one of the most explosively epic battle scenes ever filmed. 1991

KILLER FISH (DVD) Margheriti, Antonio The mastermind behind a precision theft of priceless emeralds decides to hide the jewels at the bottom of a reservoir he's secretly stocked with savage deadly piranha. Retrieving the gems turns to be a caper in itself since the group is now torn by suspicion and jealousy. Several gangs members try to recover the loot on their own, only to become screaming victims of the insatiable horde or KILLER FISH. All those emeralds are down there just waiting to be brought up. To get them, everyone must face the inescapable terror of thousands of man-eating creatures . Made at a time to cash in on the success of Joe Dante's Piranha, this film instead strips away the flesh of man to reveal, not the soul, but the internal plastic skeleton. Starring Lee Majors and cult film star Karen Black, legendary Italian director Antonio Margheriti fills this action caper with suspense and thrills amongst stunning Brazillian backdrops. Uncut from Japan. 1979

VIRTUAL WEAPON (DVD) Margheriti, Antonio Detective Skims (Terence Hill) returns home to Miami after working years in Washington and reunites with old police force buddy Mike (Marvelous Marvin Hagler). With a reputation for ducking bullets and causing mayhem, Mike has since settled down a bit and living the quiet life. Skims hasn't slowed down at all and is in town to crack a terrorist ring and a new high powered liquid based explosive that is triggered by sound frequency. In an attempt to apprehend the terrorist, things go horribly wrong and Skims ends getting blown up with the rest of a building. He isn't actually dead though and reveals his new virtual form to a ten-year-old computer whiz. Now floating free in cyberspace and able to travel everywhere he wishes via telecommunication network, his regenerated hologram form still need to finish the job and get the terrorist. This ended up being the last film Antonio Margheriti directed before passing away and was also prolific writer Bruno Corbucci last produced script as well. It is an absolute insane take on the buddy cop action film and its ridiculous plot is somehow daftly enjoyable through all the moments of merry mayhem. UNCUT and WIDESCREEN 1997
