3 BY SCORSESE (DVD) Scorsese, Martin This is a collection of three early works by Martin Scorsese and a must for the collection of any fan. The 1st is Italianamerican (1974) which features Scorsese’s parents in their apartment. His parents are fascinating storytellers and interweave their own experiences as Italian Americans with a history of New York itself. The 2nd is The Big Shave (1967) which he made as a metaphor for the Vietnam War and was produced as his final project in film class at N.Y.U. A man walks into a sterile bathroom then proceeds to shave until he pierces through his skin. The 3rd film American Boy (1978) is a profile of Steven Prince. Scorsese gives the viewer an in depth view into the man's life and due to Prince's wonderful role as a story teller, the tales he tells are fascinating, some silly, and some so outlandish you have to doubt their sincerity. 1967

A MAN TO RESPECT (DVD) Lupo, Michele Kirk Douglas plays Steve Wallace, a man who has just gotten out of jail, a man about to make one final play, and above all else, A Man To Respect! Steve is a master thief who decides to take a job offered to him by an organization that recognizes his particular talents. The first job he ever took from them landed him in jail but now he knows what’s out there and it’s time to take it! This great flick features a fantastic score by Ennio Morricone and is filled with enough action, emotion, and twists to satisfy any eurocrime action enthusiast! There is an amazing car chase that has to be seen to be believed. Previously, A Man to Respect has only been available fullscreen and in some countries has been cut by nearly 15 minutes! This is the uncut widescreen print that is the way this crime action caper was meant to be seen. Uncut and Letterboxed from Japan. 1972

ACCION MUTANTE (DVD) de la Iglesia, Alex Alex de la Iglesia's first feature film is about the antics of a terrorist group known as Accion Mutante who hate cosmetics, slimming diets, sperm banks, plastic surgeons, aerobics and all that continues to fuel the future world that is ruled by good-looking people. This band of ugly, bad, twisted, and burnt mutants decide to kidnap the daughter of a rich businessman with a bloody raid on her wedding reception. This money-grabbing ransom attempt is the culmination of their anit-beautiful people campaign in order to claim back the rights of the ugly freaks. Escaping from the police in their spaceship the trip ends abruptly when they crash in Axturiax, the planet of the crazy miners and no women. This is a great black comedy sci-fi adventure that takes a satirical look at our society and is done in an exuberant style filled with extreme violence and great special effects. Letterboxed and in Spanish with English Subtitles. 1993

ADDICTION, THE (DVD) Ferrara, Abel A philosophy student with a sensitive view of human behavior is writing her essay to show the evil in men. She soon gets deeper involved in the dark side of humanity when pulled into an alley and bitten by a seductive female vampire. Now her hunger for knowledge has become a hunger for blood, and no one is safe. The city has become one enormous dining room and with the help of a master vampire, she becomes uncontrollably drawn into a world of violence with her insatiable cravings for human blood. Abel Ferrara's moody vampire tale makes fascinating statements on sin and redemption, spirituality and the nature of good and evil. Great acting, an intriguing philosophical screenplay, and amazing black and white photography help create one of the most accomplished vampire films ever filmed. WIDESCREEN and B&W. 1995

AFTERMATH, THE (DVD) Barkett, Steve Three astronauts return from deep space to discover that a world-wide biological and nuclear war has ravaged the earth. That just the beginning of the problems though, as they face a dual peril from mutant cannibals wandering the streets and a gang of psychotic killers who control what is left of civilization. While making their way through the ruins of Los Angeles, the astronauts learn of a few innocent survivors living in constant fear of the murderous gang and its leader (Sid Haig). The deranged leader savagely kills the survivors one-by-one until becoming the ultimate target of the avenging astronauts. Director Steve Barkett with his brother Christopher write and star in this violent science fiction story that features effects by the soon to be famous Skotak Brothers (ALIENS, TERMINATOR 2), and a cameo by the late great Forrest J. Ackermann. Also know as ZOMBIE AFTERMATH. 1982

ALIEN 2 (DVD) Ippolito, Ciro A couple along with six of their friends plan a weekend of exploring some underground caves in the Californian wilderness. As they drive out of the city the news is reporting that a space capsule returning from space has crash landed in the ocean and it's crew are missing. While taking a break at a road stop, one of the cavers finds an strange blue football sized rock and gives it to the psychic member of the group. Once they are deep down into the caves, the rock begins to pulse and suddenly bursts open to attack one of the explorers. With the alien on the loose and realizing they are trapped in the lower levels of the cave, the cavers must use all their experience to find a way out and survive. Written, produced and directed by Ciro Ippolito, this very unofficial sequel to Ridley Scott's Alien is an entertaining spaghetti splatter schlockfest. ALIEN FROM THE DEEP (DVD) Margheriti, Antonio A female reporter drags her cameraman to an island where they believe toxic waste dumping is taking place within the indigenous active volcano area. With help form the local village resistance, the duo manage to infiltrate the chemical plant and film the evidence that proves the dumping is in fact taking place. It is not long before the alarm is raised and the cameraman is captured and brought before the evil commander while the reporter manages to escape and meets a helpful snake venom expert in the jungle. The two plan on going back to the plant for a rescue mission, but little do they know that chaos will erupt with the awakening of the Alien from the Deep which has the whole compound in disarray. This was Antonio Margheriti's last incursion to the sci-fi genre and last collaboration with long time producer Gianfranco Couyoumdjian. It really is more of a horror-action-adventure film though with an ecological message about the systematic destruction of nature which Margheriti again visited with his next film Indio. 1989

AMERICAN TIGER (DVD) Martino, Sergio Olympic gymnast Mitch Gaylord stars as a student who is putting himself through school as a part-time rickshaw puller in Miami. He runs deep into trouble when he falls for the slutty charms of a ravishing topless dancer and gets involved with some sex tape antics which leads him into getting framed for the murder of the son of a wealthy televangelist. Trying to clear his name, the rickshaw driver pursues a trail of bizarre clues which leads him to an eccentric, elderly Chinese woman. The woman is actually a witch who wants an old relic that the televangelist has in his possession and she warns the young rickshaw that he is part of a timeless war between the forces of good and evil that is being played out. When the televangelist (Halloween's Donald Pleasence) is revealed as a diabolical fake, the young rickshaw must outwit the preachers fanatical assassin (Hands of Steel's Daniel Greene) and finally face the awesome, unholy power of the Reverend himself in a climatic showdown. 1990

Time is running out to get them to stop though as thousands of birds launch an attack against a train that reporter is traveling on. Rene Cardona Jr., Mexico's master of exploitation, directs this low-budget homage to Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and fills it with all the necessary grindhouse details including the birds making mincemeat out of people's faces.
