INDIO (DVD) |
Margheriti, Antonio |
A half-breed Marine officer returns to the Amazon village of his birth to visit his dying chieftain father. Upon arrival he finds that his beloved homeland is being ravaged by industrial corporations and its rain forests seriously endangered by the reckless hunt for resources. When his father and native villagers are killed for resisting the land developers, the officer assumes his tribesman's colours and wages an all-out war against a corporation and its ruthless evil Colonel representative (Rambo's Brian Dennehy). Desperately trying to stop sabotage attacks from officer "Indio", the Colonel sends for a secret weapon: Sgt. Iron, Indio's old instructor and the deadliest of soldiers. In the end, Indio, the evil Colonel and Sgt. Iron square off in a take-no-prisoners fight -to-the-finish for the jungle home that must be saved. Antonio Margheriti directs this fun jungle action romp that mutates into a hybrid of First Blood and The Emerald Forest, but with as many explosions and miniature effects that the budget would allow. |

INDIO 2: THE REVOLT |
Margheriti, Antonio |
It has been a few years since the events of the first film and all is peaceful in the jungle until Indio is shot point blank and killed by the evil head of the construction corporation. With Indio now out of the way, the corporation can continue to build the road through the Amazon and hires a gang of mercenaries to murder, massacre and enslave any local Indians who stand in the way. When news of Indio's death reaches his of old friend Sgt. Iron (Marvelous Marvin Hagler), he heads back to the jungle seek revenge. Sgt. Iron helps unite the native tribes and teaches them guerrilla tactics for fighting and protecting their homes and families. Despite several set backs, Sgt. Iron gets a large enough number of tribesmen to band together and stand up against the evil corporation and its army of mercenaries. Antonio Margheriti pulls all the right punches at just the right moments, and creates a very enjoyable viewing experience for one of his last films. The explosions, gunfire, and fist fights come in fast and furious, with gore included, all culminating into one of the most explosively epic battle scenes ever filmed. |

INDUSTRIAL SYMPHONY NO. 1 (DVD) |
Lynch, David |
In 1989, the Brooklyn Academy of Music approached David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti to create a special performance to open their New Wave Music Festival. Taking the title from a collection of his works produced while he was at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Lynch and Badalamenti worked Julee Cruise's music together with various imagery to produce a unique concert performance. To open the piece, Lynch shot a new film sequence of a phone conversation between a guy and girl breaking up, featuring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern with whom he was currently shooting Wild At Heart. From there, the dreamself of the heartbroken woman (Julee Cruise) floats through the air over an industrial wasteland singing ballads of love. |
