SAHARA CROSS (DVD) Valerii, Tonino A giant oil company sends their head geologist (Franco Nero) and his team prospectors to a dangerous area of the Sahara desert to meet up with their African guide for a mysterious job. When terrorists occupying the area attack and kill one of the team members, the rest of the rough-and-tumble geologists set off for revenge in a lengthy chase across the desert. Over a period of scorching days and freezing nights, the crew eventually find themselves involved in a robbery worth millions of dollars. Instead of murdering the terrorists though, they put their heads together and come up with a way to use them for a sinister plan. Tonino Valerii creates an entertaining ride with his exotic on-location direction that maintains a good rhythm throughout going between action, politics and suspense. The pounding score from legendary Riz Ortolani also seems to fuel the great performances by Franco Nero and the rest of the cast. UNCUT and WIDESCREEN 1977
