VINDICATOR, THE (DVD) Lord, Jean-Claude When a research scientist working at the aerospace corporation confronts his corrupt boss about missing money, he is soon killed in a deliberate laboratory explosion. Not letting him go to waste, his evil colleagues transplant the dead scientists brain, eyes, and other bits into a computerized metal cyborg creature they intend to use in an exploration of Mars. Before they can implant the temper control system, the cyborg escapes with the desire to visit his mourning wife. With no way to control him, the lethal killing machine goes on a rampage that leaves a bloody trail of death and destruction. A ruthless bounty hunter (Pam Grier) is brought in to track down and destroy the creature by any means necessary. Jean-Claude Lord (Visiting Hours) directs this modernized version of the legendary Frankenstein and transforms it into a darkly atmospheric cyborg slasher. Make-up FX by Stan Winston, a thrilling score, and plentiful action at a zippy pace come together to make a fine specimen of sci-fi/horror trash. UNCUT and WIDESCREEN from JAPAN. 1986

VIOLATION OF THE BITCH (DVD) Larraz, Jose A beautiful woman lives all alone with only her books and paintings for company until a wild, dark haired gypsy comes to stay with her. Soon the two become lesbian lovers but the gypsy has a secret that manifests itself into frightening dreams of domination and humiliation. The dreams eventually become a reality when a visitor arrives on horseback and someone cracks out the shotgun. Jose ‘Vampyres’ Larraz creates a dream like atmosphere with some very surreal elements in this unpredictable soft porn. Also known as The Coming of Sin. Letterboxed. 1977

VIOLENT BREED, THE (DVD) Di Leo, Fernando A group of kidnapped children must be liberated from deep within a Communist Asian stronghold and it’s up to a Vietnam vet working for the C.I.A. to save them. His boss gets word of a renegade American working the world’s richest drug source, the Golden Triangle, with Mafia connections on one side, and a Russian arms deal on the other. The vet is sent back in and it’s one man against an army of cutthroats. Genre regulars Henry Silva and Woody Strode star in this explosive action flick that twists and turns from the streets of New York to the jungles of Southeast Asia. 1984

VIOLENT PROFESSIONALS, THE Martino, Sergio A police detective is suspended from the force for use of extreme violence. When the police chief is murdered in broad daylight, the detective vows to avenge his boss’s death and infiltrates the mob to find out who was responsible. He soon finds himself mixed up with a terrorist network hell-bent on toppling the Italian government by robbing banks and murdering random victims. Sergio Martino (Mountain of the Cannibal God) fills this European crime drama with plenty of violent action and some spectacular car chase. Letterboxed. 1973
